Wine Business

Managing Director for collaborative wine business venture (2018- 2019)
Headed a group of wine grape producers in the Riverland region of South Australia, arranging contract winemaking and sale of wine and fruit on behalf of a group comprising over ten thousand tonnes of wine grapes.

National Grower Advocacy

CEO of Australian Vignerons (Formerly Wine Grape Growers Australia) (2016 – 2018)
Assumed the role of CEO following seven years’ as a board member. Undertook a strategic review that led to reforming the organisation, changing the membership structure and rewriting the constitution. Held positions of national responsibility in biosecurity including the National Management Group (NMG) and the Consultative Committee on Emergency Plant Pests (CCEPP). Active in formation of wine tax policy including changes to WET rebate legislation, which included national travel and industry consultation.

Regional Wine Industry Business

Business Manager, Riverland Wine (2014-2016)
Prepared political submissions on behalf of the region’s winemakers and grape growers. Prepared educations and business support tools to assist fruit growing and winemaking decision making.

Viticulture Technical Advisory

Senior Viticulture Officer, CCW Cooperative (2009 – 2016)
Provided technical viticulture advice to a 700 strong grower group that produced 10% of Australia’s annual grape crush, including two years with extreme disease pressure. Worked in conjunction with wine company and other members on building a more value chain – centric operation, including a role in sourcing and assessing wine grapes for a new wine business venture. Prepared fact sheets and technical material, property visits and problem – solving, and hosting technical presentations, grower meetings and other generic communications to educate and up-skill grower members.

Vineyard Management

Vineyard Manager, Jubilee Park Vineyards (1998 – 2009)
Technical and business management role including all vineyard operations, preparation of budgets, workplace health and safety responsibilities, quality management system, financial and budgeting, negotiation and sale of wine grapes, reporting to shareholder group.

Other

Previous roles after graduation from the University of Adelaide included technical roles including vineyard monitoring and pests and disease assessment, orchard and vineyard management, crop estimation, planning and conducting trials in field, grower liaison work, wine grape maturity assessment, among others.
